The World Concertina Congress Hall of Fame was established in 1975 as a means by which the instrument’s musicians honor their peers. The Hall of Fame recognizes international, national and regional Chemnitzer concertina musicians, many who are models of the common man. The majority of the Hall of Fame members are local musicians who have kept the instrument alive at its grassroots level. Since 1976, Committees as appointed by the Elected Officers of the Annual World Concertina Congress have judged that these individuals be entered as Merited Members into the World Concertina Hall of Fame and have received the highest honor in recognition of many outstanding, unselfish endeavors to elevate, to promote and to perpetuate the Chemnitzer concertina as a musical instrument.
